Google has now added a new section in its Play Store app marketplace. The new section is called the ‘Free app of the week’ and will now highlight one free app every week. One detail to note is that the new free apps section only appears the US storefront for now. As pointed out by Android Police, accessing the Free Apps section is fairly simple. If you are on your desktop, simply point your browser to the Google Play Store and then click on the Apps section. Facebook is all set to begin testing a GIF button that will allow users to use services such as Giphy and Tenor for posting GIFs as comments. According to a report by TechCrunch, Facebook stated, “Everyone loves a good GIF and we know that people want to be able to use them in comments. Google is making a play to capture the family market. Today it announced its new Family Link app, which lets parents create a Google account for their kids. This account is completely controlled by parents, so that means they can manage the apps their kids use, monitor how long they’re staring at their device, and set a designated “bedtime” for the screen. They can remotely lock it, too. To create this account, parents just have to get their kids a device that runs Android Nougat, download Family Link, and then create an account through the app. Family Link is now available through an early-access program. A few weeks ago, WhatsApp replaced the ability for users to set a text-based in-app status with a Snapchat Stories clone.
